My only reservation in recommending Greg Adkins and his music to the wider world is that some label is going to pick him up and lure him away – and Knoxville will lose one of its best and brightest singer-songwriters. Greg has a rare blend of musical maturity, lyrical depth, vocal richness, perspective, humor, and wisdom. Be ready to be impressed.

Chase the Western Sky - 2007

Originally released in 2007, Chase the Western Sky was produced and recorded in Asheville, NC under the watchful care of singer-songwriter Chris Rosser. Highlights include the C.S. Lewis inspired “Further Up and Further In” and the country tinged “Old Radio”. TheRabbitRoom.com says “It’s the kind of disc in which skipping songs rarely happens. Every song is standout good.”

Greg Adkins is a smart songwriter. He adroitly meshes folk music’s inclination to say something meaningful, maybe even profound, with country music’s honest simplicity. Expressing deep, emotional thoughts in a palatable, accessible way surely takes significant brain power. I’m betting that Adkins can write songs and chew gum at the same time.

Lower than the Angels - 2005

Lower than the Angels was my first CD, released way back in late 2005. Produced by Andrew Osenga in Nashville, TN, this record features 10 original songs and a rewrite of the hymn “Rock of Ages”, featuring a guest vocal from Andrew Peterson.
